The survivors slowly entered the outermost atmosphere of the planet, and began their assessments with patience. They traveled half their lives on this mission, and with the fate of their entire species on the line, they weren't about to rush their descent now. They were far enough into the Stable Realm to feel safe for eons, and the initial test results of the environment seemed promising; Things were beginning to look up for their kind once again.

Their journey was finally coming to an end, and the beautiful world of Replifire awaited them below. It was a brand new home to call their own, a place where they could rebuild their vast and powerful empire, far stronger than it ever was before. As more test results came in, news spread that they would soon be descending. A few small adjustments to the planet would be needed, including sterilizing its atmosphere, and ridding it of unfamiliar wildlife, but that would be done within a week's time. Everyone was in high spirits, and celebrations were held across the ship. Nothing could shake their joy.

When scanners and equipment began acting strangely, and some of the cargo was found out of place, even the captain was unconcerned. When passengers began complaining of frightening noises, and eerie visions in the night, she brushed it off as tense nerves from the long trip, or anxiety about their new lives ahead. The way she saw it, there was no need to worry. Soon, the old ship would be retired forever, and the fresh air of the unspoiled planet would ease everyone's minds at last. The crew continued to focus on their work, even as the unexplainable happenings increased in number, and intensity.

More and more, panic was seen among the crowds, and disturbing stories could being overheard all around. People spoke of the impossible, like hearing voices from thin air, or seeing ghastly faces flash on their surveillance monitors. Many claimed to see glimpses of their friends left behind on Earth, crouching, or crawling in the shadows. Things turned for the worse when, as if possessed, some of the passengers began acting crazy, reading lover's minds to expose each other's secrets, or turning on their own families violently, without restraint.

When the crew checked on the captain, they determined that she too had fallen into madness, and was nowhere to be found. Searching revealed a hastily scrawled note, stuck to the wall with blood. Reading it, they learned she had been hearing whispers beckoning her from the planet below, over the radio waves of her personal communications unit. The recording she left as "proof" revealed little, lending nothing but her worried breath, and and a faint electric hum as clues. They followed the drops of blood to the main control room, and tried frantically to overload the locking mechanism, desperate to get inside.

Blasting through the door, they entered to see their worst fears realized. The captain was recklessly clawing and tearing away at the primary console, destroying their computer's most vital security elements. Before they could stop her, she had permanently disengaged all the essential functions of the engine's core, sealing their fates. The lights went out, their gravity failed, and horror spread. An instability wave rocked over the ship, causing it to plummet towards the gigantic planet below. Blinded and powerless, they fell into the darkest jungled swamp of Replifire, full of ghosts and evil awaiting...
